Sedona Blair Announced as Sophie’s Squad Ambassador
MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota — Sedona Blair, University of New Hampshire goaltender, is set to join Sophie’s Squad’s new ambassador program.
Blair, an Eden Prairie, Minnesota native, has deep roots in the Minnesota hockey community. She graduated from Holy Family Catholic High School before joining the UNH team. Blair has been a standout goalie from the beginning of her collegiate career, starting all 36 of UNH’s games as a first-year player. In her first year, she also set the UNH record for saves in a single season with 917. Blair followed up with a strong sophomore season as well, ranking second in hockey east in shutouts. While Blair is incredibly accomplished on the ice, she’s excited to join the conversation on mental health advocacy as well.
“(Advocacy) means raising awareness of the signs and symptoms that you or a friend may be experiencing. Talking openly about mental health is key to fighting the stigma against mental health issues as well.” Blair said.
As an ambassador, Blair will continue championing Sophie’s Squad while advancing mental health awareness and initiatives. Ambassadors promote Sophie’s Squad through the power of their reach as high-level elite athletes. Sophie’s Squad director of marketing Ryan Bahl spoke about Blair’s involvement with the organization.
“Sedona Blair is an awesome person to partner with on our ambassador program. A lot of our ambassadors are pro athletes, which is fantastic, but it’s also great to have Sedona’s perspective as a student.” Bahl said, “Mental health awareness for student athletes sits at the core of Sophie’s Squad goals and messages, and having a role model like Blair is going to be incredibly valuable for our organization.”
Blair is the latest athlete to join Sophie’s Squad’s ambassador program, joining a list of dedicated team members. The organization is excited to partner with a diverse group of athletes across all sports, age groups, and backgrounds.
Sophie’s Squad was founded in 2021 to raise awareness of mental health issues and remove the stigma associated with seeking help for athletes.
