Sophie’s Squad is proud to have been selected by the Minnesota Wild as a recipient of the Split the Pot 50/50 Raffle, helping raise funds and awareness for mental health while bringing our mission to thousands of hockey fans across the State of Hockey.
The partnership was especially meaningful as Sophie’s Squad was featured during the Minnesota Wild’s playoff run and Mental Health Awareness Month, creating an incredible opportunity to put mental health at the forefront during one of the most exciting times of the hockey season.
Supporting Mental Health Through Split the Pot
The Minnesota Wild Split the Pot Raffle gives fans an opportunity to support organizations making a difference throughout the community while also having the chance to win.
Through the 50/50 raffle, half of the proceeds go to the winning ticket holder, while the remaining portion supports the designated charitable organization. Sophie’s Squad was honored to be selected as a recipient, with funds helping further our work to improve mental health awareness and support for athletes.
For Sophie’s Squad, the opportunity was about more than fundraising. It was another chance to start conversations about mental health in hockey and remind athletes, coaches, families, and fans that no one should feel like they have to struggle alone.
Continuing Sophie’s Mission
Sophie’s Squad was created in memory of Sophie, a young athlete who died by suicide in 2021. What began as a group of friends and family coming together in her memory has grown into a movement focused on improving the mental health of athletes from youth sports through college.
Through awareness events, partnerships with teams and organizations, educational initiatives, ambassadors, and community outreach, Sophie’s Squad works to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and encourage athletes to speak up, check in on one another, and ask for help when they need it.
Being selected by the Minnesota Wild during the playoffs and Mental Health Awareness Month provided an important platform to continue that mission.
Thank You, Minnesota Wild
Sophie’s Squad extends a huge thank you to the Minnesota Wild, Minnesota Wild Foundation, and every Wild fan who participated in the Split the Pot Raffle.
The continued support of the Wild organization helps Sophie’s Squad reach more athletes, teams, coaches, parents, and communities with an important message: mental health matters, and it’s always okay to ask for help.
We are incredibly grateful to have the Minnesota Wild alongside us as we continue working to make a difference in the lives of athletes throughout Minnesota and beyond.
Together, we can end the stigma surrounding mental health.
