On October 19, 2024, Sophie’s Squad, along with the women’s Minnesota Gophers and Wisconsin Badgers hockey teams, hosted a mental health awareness event at Ridder Arena. With a full-capacity crowd in attendance, Terry Hughes, the president of Sophie’s Squad, performed the ceremonial puck drop alongside the captains of both teams. Sophie’s Squad was excited to provide fans with education and resources aimed at improving the mental health of athletes, encouraging open conversations, and emphasizing that seeking help is a sign of strength. A special thank you to both teams for their support.
