Julia Minotti Announced as Sophie’s Squad Ambassador

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota — Collegiate hockey goaltender Julia Minotti is set to join Sophie’s Squad’s new ambassador program.

Minotti, a Laval, Quebec native, is an accomplished goaltender who is playing at St. Thomas University. The goaltender is joining the Tommies for her first season in St. Paul after playing three years at Clarkson University. In her four seasons of NCAA hockey, Minotti has accumulated a sterling 24-6-3 record with 10 shutouts. Her fantastic career thus far led to her being named to the 2025 watch list for women’s goaltender of the year.

Before her collegiate career, the standout goalie played in Quebec with the John Abbott College Islanders. During her time there, Minnoti won the RSEQ (Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec) Championship.

Minotti is excited to join the ambassador program with Sophie’s Squad and have the opportunity to bring the organization’s message to Vancouver.

“I want to partner with Sophie’s squad because I think it’s extremely important to raise awareness for mental health but mostly mental health in athletes, as we are seen to be “tough” but we need to know that it’s okay to not be okay,” Minotti said. “My main goal is to help as many people as I can, but if I just help one then my job is accomplished.”

Sophie’s Squad marketing coordinator, Ryan Bahl, spoke about Minotti’s involvement with the ambassador program.

“Julia Minotti is an excellent addition to our group of ambassadors. She’s a fantastic athlete with a bright future,” Bahl said. “She’s been very motivated to help our mission already and we’re thrilled to have her on the team. Now that she’s in St. Paul with the Tommies, having a quality athlete and person closer to is a win all around.”

Minotti is the latest athlete to join the Sophie’s Squad ambassador program, joining a list of dedicated team members. The organization is excited to partner with a diverse group of athletes across all sports, age groups, and backgrounds.

Sophie’s Squad, founded in 2021, is a Minnesota-based nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness about mental health issues and breaking the stigma surrounding seeking help. The organization partners with athletes, teams, and communities to promote open conversations, education, and support through events nationwide.
