Hey everyone, thanks for taking a few minutes to listen.
I want to talk to you about Sophie’s Squad and why the work we do really matters, especially in sports and on teams like ours.
Sophie’s Squad was created to raise awareness around mental health, break the stigma, and remind people that they’re not alone. For me, it’s about creating spaces where we feel safe to talk, to check in on one another, and to ask for help when we need it – on and off the ice.
One of our new initiatives is 10K Strong. To keep our programs strong and sustainable, we need 10,000 people to commit just $50 a year (that’s one coffee a month). That’s all it takes to ensure we can continue showing up with real programming, real impact, and real support for the sports community.
If you are interested in signing up or learning more you can do so at: sophiessquad.org/10k or by scanning a QR code that I will provide after.
So far, Sophie’s Squad has reached over 47,000 athletes, raised more than $785,000 in donations, and completed over 310 events. Those numbers represent real people, real stories, and real conversations happening in locker rooms and teams just like ours.
Mental health affects every single one of us. Whether we’re going through something ourselves or supporting a teammate who is, these conversations matter. Checking in matters. Showing up for each other matters.
Sophie’s Squad reminds me that strength isn’t just about performance. It’s about support, vulnerability, and taking care of ourselves and our teammates.
Thanks for listening, and thanks for being part of a team that values that!
