Meet Zoe Lopez

Zoe Lopez is a dedicated student-athlete playing women’s hockey at Minnesota State University, where she competes at a high level while representing her team with passion, resilience, and leadership. Known for her work ethic and commitment on the ice, Zoe embodies what it means to be a teammate who shows up every day ready to work and grow.

Beyond hockey, Zoe is a strong advocate for mental health awareness, using her platform as a collegiate athlete to help break the stigma surrounding mental health in sports. She believes that mental well-being is just as important as physical performance and is committed to encouraging open conversations, support systems, and resources for athletes. Through her advocacy, Zoe hopes to remind others that asking for help is a strength and that no athlete has to face challenges alone.

To me mental health advocacy means raising awareness toward the fact that it is okay to not be okay. I believe athletes as well as communities all face societal pressures to perform and act a certain way and this can lead to hiding and suppressing emotions that should be addressed. Through advocacy I believe the stigma can be ended towards mental health and everyone can find themselves able to open up about how they feel and how they can receive support.
