Meet Peyton Hemp

Peyton Hemp (born May 15, 2003, in Andover, Minnesota) is an American professional ice hockey forward in the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL), currently playing with the Ottawa Charge after a standout collegiate career at the University of Minnesota. A decorated scorer and leader, she was a team captain for the Golden Gophers, earned WCHA honors, and finished her college career with 123 points, helping her teams compete at the highest levels of NCAA women’s hockey.

Beyond her on-ice accomplishments, Peyton is passionate about mental health awareness and athlete well-being. She understands the pressures that come with elite competition and uses her platform to encourage teammates and fans alike to talk openly about mental health, seek support when needed, and embrace the idea that strength includes caring for both mind and body. Her commitment to fostering supportive environments reflects her belief that everyone—athletes and non-athletes alike—deserves compassion, understanding, and resources to thrive mentally as well as physically.

I think mental health is very important and not talked about enough, especially in sports! So I’d be excited to be an ambassador. It’s so important for people to know that it’s okay to talk about how they are feeling, and to have a safe space to do it! Simply starting the conversation and talking about our experiences with mental health can help so much.
