Meet Lara Dallman-Weiss
Lara Dallman-Weiss is an Olympic sailor, international competitor, and passionate advocate for mental health awareness. After representing the United States on the world’s biggest sailing stages, Lara has dedicated her platform to helping others navigate life’s challenges both on and off the water.
Beyond competition, Lara is deeply committed to supporting young people and families facing mental health struggles. Through her work with Sophie’s Squad, she uses her voice to reduce stigma, encourage open conversations, and promote compassion, resilience, and connection. Lara believes strength is not just measured in performance, but in vulnerability, community, and the courage to ask for help.
By sharing her experiences as an elite athlete managing pressure, expectations, and setbacks, Lara hopes to inspire others to prioritize their wellbeing and to remind them they are never alone. Her mission is simple: create safe spaces, empower others to speak up, and turn awareness into action.

Mental health advocacy is integrated into every aspect of my life as an Olympian. Advocacy demands action, in both small and big ways. I lead by example, prioritizing my mental and spiritual health at every corner of competition – from the Olympic games.
From morning and evening protocols designed for my daily sustainability to maintaining an expert wellness team, contributing to my community and continuing to dream – I have spent my career finding a balance. In recent years, I have seen the power in sharing this with others. By being authentic, and showing up as exactly myself regardless of circumstance, I have seen the impact of continuing the conversation on a broader scale.
I am an advocate for intentionality, and in turn, mental health advocacy has become an important aspect as my identity.
